How to Clean and Maintain Your Artificial Grass
Choosing the right equipment
- Petrol or electric blower
- A hard-bristle broom or power sweeper can be used to groom the grass
- Water hose
- Spray bottle
- Rake and shovel
- Waist container or bin
Regularly move debris
Whether they're leaves, seeds, sticks or anything else that might fall from above, we recommend regularly cleaning materials off your grass. Using a brush or a rake is great because it refreshes the blades' position at the same time, but cleaning by hand is just as good. Leaves become moist, allowing moss to grow, which can affect drainage. So it’s about the function as much as it is about looking fresh.
Avoid using corrosive chemicals
Avoid using corrosive chemicals near your lawn. Most corrosive chemicals, such as harsh cleaners, need to be kept away from your lawn as they will, over time, cause damage which will be irreversible.
Keeping it upright
If your turf is not standing upright, start brushing it as often as needed to keep the fibres lifted. Use your brush with synthetic bristles that run about five inches long, and make sure not to use wire or metal bristles, as these might damage your fibres. Raking or brushing your artificial grass lawn redistributes the blades so that they will wear more evenly and last longer. Keeping the fibres upright will also make your yard look more like natural grass.
Maintenance for pets
To remove pet droppings from grass, simply use your preferred method for removing solid pet waste. We recommend cleaning and washing every 2 weeks with a bottle of our specially formulated Pet Fresh to keep your lawn clean and odour-free from pets' urine.
